(OID), the Organization for Strategic Development (OSDJ), the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI) Healing Hearts, the Abi-Gaye Smythe I Have A Heart Foundation (IHAH) in association with the Friends of Montefiore Medical Center Cardiac Thoracic Team are pleased to announce that the first adolescent/young adult heart surgery mission will take place January 21st – 25th, 2019 at the UHWI Mona Campus, Jamaica, WI. Sixteen (16) patients with diagnoses of rheumatic heart disease and other prevalent cardiac valve diseases have been selected to receive these services. The Montefiore team consists of physicians (surgeons, anesthesiologists, intensivists) and nurses who in conjunction with the UHWI Cardiac Thoracic medical and nursing staff will perform the surgeries and provide the post-operative care.
