Children’s Dental Health in Haiti

Waiting patiently to see the dentist

The impact on the lack of dental care in rural areas of Haiti remains worrisome, especially for children. The main problem children face is poverty. Haiti is the least developed and the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Approximately 40% of the children population in Haiti have access to healthcare. It is even less for dental care. Health centers are located many miles away making it difficult to reach without transportation. In many cases care is not free. Families are not able to afford dental services for themselves or their children. IRSGINC can provide hope in many of these rural areas administering preventive and emergency dental services free of charge.
